Lakeland, Florida — 29 to 31 January 2027
Lakeland Linder is home of the SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo, and the ramp there is comfortable ground for a winter program. The Foundation ran a Pilot Proficiency Program at Lakeland in January 2025 and returns in 2027.
Ground school runs Friday. Saturday and Sunday are flying, each student paired with an instructor matched on Mooney model experience. A hotel adjacent to the field holds the group block.
Who it suits
A Florida January program draws two groups: pilots based in the Southeast for whom it is a short flight, and pilots from the northern tier for whom it is a reason to go somewhere warm and come home current. Both are welcome, and the second group tends to arrive rustier than they expect — which is the point of the weekend.
Cancellation and refunds
The Foundation applies a tiered refund window depending on how long before the programme a cancellation arrives. Those thresholds are visible in the Foundation’s own cancellation correspondence but have never been written down as a policy, so this demonstration does not state figures it cannot source. Staff see the cancellation date and the window on the registration record and decide; a written policy is an open question for the Foundation.
